Permanent position for Optical Fiber Laser Scientist for a manufacturing company that serves the medical, industrial, aerospace and telecommunications fields.
Primary responsibilities will include:.
Conduct research and analyze data related to high power fiber lasers and telecommunications components.
Design, execute and analyze experiments to improve performance of optical fiber lasers and amplifiers.
Work with optical fiber fabrication team to provide input on improved fiber designs.
Interface with teams developing fiber laser components such as optical fibers, fiber Bragg gratings, and fiber coatings to ensure complete design solutions for fiber laser systems.
Characterize glass, fibers, and coatings, and devise methods to identify and solve technical problems.
Perform other technical support as required.
Requirements
MS or PhD degree in Optics, Physics or related field.
Experience in handling, characterizing and performing data analysis on optical fibers.
Experience with high-power fiber lasers and components, such as fiber Bragg gratings is highly desired.
Strong verbal and written communications skills as evidenced by past publications and presentations.
