Senior Electrical Engineer to design, evaluate, and support power conversion and DC systems serving as an SME to internal teams and customers to ensure products meet safety, reliability, and applicable standards and codes.
Support new product development from concept through production release, including design reviews and first-article verification.
Develop and refine electrical designs for DC power systems and power conversion equipment.
Selection of power semiconductor and other components to ensure they can operate in rated conditions.
Participate in and lead design reviews, supporting cross-functional teams in evaluating design trade-offs and risk.
Define hardware-software interfaces, operation parameters, and product requirements by collaborating with firmware and systems engineers.
Serve as a primary technical liaison to internal teams and customers to resolve field power system performance issues and respond to customer technical and compatibility inquiries and application guidance.
Troubleshoot electrical failures for root causes and coordinate corrective actions including collaboration with field service on-site.
Responsible for complete design documentation, ensuring integrity, including schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), engineering change requests (ECRs), interface specifications, and revision notes.
Ensure product designs comply with applicable codes and standards including UL, CSA, NEC, and IEEE 2405.
Requirements
Electrical Engineering degree plus at least 5 years of experience in power electronics and power conversion systems.
Knowledge of Power electronics fundamentals including AC/DC and DC/DC conversion, rectifier topologies, battery charging algorithms, and component thermal management.
Experience in field troubleshooting of power systems including systematic troubleshooting methodology for power system faults and ability to analyze field failures and implement corrective actions.
Experience with and knowledge of UL, CSA, NEC, and IEE regulatory compliance programs and safety and compliance standards for industrial power equipment.
Experience with component selection and compatibility assessment, including power semiconductors, fusing,protection devices, and passive components.
Able to produce clear, precise, and production-ready technical documents.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with teams at all levels.
Structured problem-solving with attention to detail, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
