New Product Development Electrical Engineer

Description

  • Permanent position for a Technical Product Manager on the New Product Development (NPD ) to oversee next-generation lighting and control systems.
  • Lead the NPD team through all stages of development, including initial design, prototyping, and production.
  • Technical Road mapping: Develop and maintain a product roadmap that aligns lighting hardware capabilities with sophisticated control software and IoT connectivity standards.
  • Translate customer needs into high-level technical specifications for engineering, particularly for sensor integration, wireless protocols, and cloud-based control platforms.
  • Collaborate with engineering leads to define scalable system architectures, ensuring compatibility between luminaires, drivers, and control interfaces.
  • Conduct regular benchmarking and capability analysis of emerging lighting technologies and smart building standards to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Identify technical risks early in the NPD cycle and establish rigorous design verification and testing protocols Maintain project schedules and take ownership of milestones and deliverables for individual projects.

Requirements

  • BS Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of managing technical products through complex hardware/software development cycles.
  • Ability to make difficult technical trade-offs between cost, time-to-market, and system performance.
  • Translate complex technical hurdles into clear business outcomes for executive stakeholders Translate managerial experience applying analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles, risk management skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Deep understanding of LED technology, luminaire design, and driver performance.
  • Practical experience with wired and wireless lighting control protocols. (e.g., DMX, DALI, Zigbee, Bluetooth Mesh,).
  • Experience with IoT and Integratio Knowledge of industry standards such as Title 24, LEED, and DLC requirements for smart lighting.
