Contract position for a NOC Engineer to work in a network operation center (NOC) that monitors critical infrastructure.
This job involves monitoring critical network infrastructure including fiber optic telecommunication systems.
Escalates issues to other members of the NOC engineering team.
Uses ticketing software to document and explain next steps to business users.
Notifies other members of the NOC team as well as business users to when outages occur and work with team to determine fixes and/or troubleshooting steps.
Answer phone calls and emails from various clients.
Follows all standard operating procedures (SOP) and documents steps taken.
Creates new training materials, especially pertaining to new software/ procedures.
Alerts various systems and networking teams to resolve issues and then documents response.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
At least 4 years of NOC experience, preferably monitoring critical infrastructure.
Knowledge and understanding of telecommunication equipment, networks, testing and maintenance.
Deep understanding of telecom systems and how to effectively create a troubleshooting process.
Ability to work with other NOC team members across the globe and hand off critical issues via proper documentation, steps taken etc.
Previous work with enterprise-grade telecom equipment including various systems and network devices.
