NOC Engineer

Description

  • Contract position for a NOC Engineer to work in a network operation center (NOC) that monitors critical infrastructure.
  • This job involves monitoring critical network infrastructure including fiber optic telecommunication systems.
  • Escalates issues to other members of the NOC engineering team.
  • Uses ticketing software to document and explain next steps to business users.
  • Notifies other members of the NOC team as well as business users to when outages occur and work with team to determine fixes and/or troubleshooting steps.
  • Answer phone calls and emails from various clients.
  • Follows all standard operating procedures (SOP) and documents steps taken.
  • Creates new training materials, especially pertaining to new software/ procedures.
  • Alerts various systems and networking teams to resolve issues and then documents response.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
  • At least 4 years of NOC experience, preferably monitoring critical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge and understanding of telecommunication equipment, networks, testing and maintenance.
  • Deep understanding of telecom systems and how to effectively create a troubleshooting process.
  • Ability to work with other NOC team members across the globe and hand off critical issues via proper documentation, steps taken etc.
  • Previous work with enterprise-grade telecom equipment including various systems and network devices.
