Contract position for a Packaging Engineer to lead cross-functional project teams for packaging and labeling in support of cardiac surgery and vascular surgery products.
Serve as the packaging engineering subject matter expert (SME) for sterile and non-sterile medical device packaging systems.
Coordinate tasks of multiple functions to meet end goals within time, budget & resource constraints.
Drive projects with packaging development focus towards innovation, sustainability and usability.
Lead sterile barrier sealing process studies and validations of sealing equipment into production.
Perform label administration responsibilities as required, including database maintenance, software and hardware validation, and creation of label system work instructions.
Collaborate with Purchasing to develop Sourcing Strategies focused on cost reductions and uninterrupted supply of packaging components.
Leverage technical expertise in order to objectively assess potential technologies which align with project goals.
Requirements
BS in Package Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
Minimum 7 years experience working in packaging within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and problem solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Ability to take initiative and interact effectively with all levels of organization.
Software experience with labeling systems, Minitab, CAD (Solidworks, AutoCAD, Pro/ENGINEER), MS Office Tools, (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), TOPS and/or CAPE.
Knowledge and understanding of UDI, packaging test methods/standards (ISO) and related test and sealing equipment pertaining to Medical Device Packaging.
