PCB Designer – Instrumentation

Description

  • Permanent position for a PCB designer for design of medium to high density boards.
  • Review and analyze engineering design schematics and supporting documents to plan for component placement and layout of PCB.
  • Place and route designs, quickly and accurately. incorporating scripts in relevant languages (TCL, Perl, or SKILL) increasing productivity, and usage of auto-router where needed.
  • Work closely with the electrical engineers and mechanical engineers to develop boards and layout meeting the expected electrical and mechanical characteristics, exercising considerable judgment in design and layout.
  • Create and update schematic diagrams, produce final documentation, assembly and fabrication drawings and verifies completed work, checking documentation outputs, BOMs, and CAM files.
  • Create new part symbols and footprints to incorporate in the library, assign part numbers, locate second source components, update and maintain component database.
  • Efficiently rework PCB designs of various complexities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, AAS degree preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Some knowledge on electrical and electronic design is welcome.
  • Experience Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge with any CAD tools (Cadence, Mentor, Altium Software) and IPC guidelines is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge on Cadence tools would be preferred but not required.
  • Creating new functions to automate time consuming and repetitive manual tasks in the entry and manipulation of CAD designs.
  • Knowledge of Electronic components and maintenance of master parts entry database with compliance to Engineering documentation control and IPC standards.
  • Familiarity with a high-level script language to support automation in a PCB design tools.
