Description
Contract-to-perm position for a Quality Engineer supporting custom metal fabrication and assembly operations.
Lead APQP deliverables for new product introduction and engineering changes, from design review through production release.
Author and maintain control plans, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, and inspection criteria.
Define critical characteristics with customer input, specify gaging and measurement methods, and stand up SPC data collection on controlled variables.
Establish and verify process capability (Cp, Cpk) across fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly operations.
Execute FAI and PPAP submissions for new and revised parts and assemblies.
Drive root cause investigation and corrective action using 8D, 5 Why, and fishbone; verify effectiveness and close out customer complaints.
Make risk-based disposition decisions on nonconforming material prior to shipment.
Deploy poka-yoke fixturing, support internal audits and CAPA, and write SOPs, QC criteria, and operator training material.
Requirements
BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Minimum 3 years in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment certified to IATF 16949 or AS9100.
Demonstrated success leading NPI and APQP efforts.
Hands-on experience building and maintaining control plans, FMEAs, and PPAP packages.
Proficiency with root cause methodologies (8D, 5 Why, fishbone, DMAIC).
Working knowledge of SPC and process capability studies.
Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T.
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer a plus.
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt a plus. 3D solid modeling software experience a plus.
Conversational Spanish a plus.
