Rotating Equipment Field Test Engineer

Description

  • Permanent position for a Field Test Engineer to support mechanics, electrical and instrumentation.
  • Support customer machinery investigations for pumps, compressors, turbines, etc.
  • Test rotating equipment in the field, including vibration, strain, pressure, MMV, and other related measurements for troubleshooting.
  • Collect and interpret data.
  • Present findings from data analysis.
  • Support root-cause analyses, FEA handoffs, and rotordynamics reviews with senior engineers.
  • Draft technical reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Communicate test plans, safety requirements, and results from test data.
  • Travel up to 60 to 70% during peak periods within the US territory and also internationally.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Position can be Entry Level.
  • Up to one year of relevant experience, including co-ops or internships.
  • Knowledge of vibration, dynamics, controls, or data acquisition is a plus.
  • Ability to learn advanced test techniques such as Experimental Modal Analysis, Operating Deflection Shape, FEA, rotordynamics, and solids modeling.
  • Ability to work safely in industrial environments near rotating machinery in power plants, water treatment plants, and the oil & gas industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with Excel and basic data tools.
  • Ability to assist in scopes for field testing and troubleshooting proposals.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time during peak periods.
  • Ability to travel at a moment’s notice within the US and internationally.
