Senior Electrical Engineer

Description

  • Permanent position for a Senior Electrical Engineer responsible for electrical design and drafting.
  • Mentor and encourage the development of junior designer-level staff.
  • Coordinate and design various electric projects conforming to applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform engineering-related tasks required for project development, design, and construction.
  • Prepare proposals and participate in the proposal submission process.
  • Collaborate with architects, owners, other engineering disciplines, vendors, building officials, other consultants, throughout the design phases of the building project.
  • Perform office construction administration, including review of shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and coordinating with contractors, design team, building officials, owner, etc., through the construction phase of the building project.
  • Assist and perform job site observations as necessary.
  • Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports, and technical presentations.
  • Assist with the scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks.
  • Develop and complete applications, permits, engineering reports, and specifications.
  • Attend and conduct client and project meetings.
  • Attend various meetings, including pre-design, plan review, pre-construction, professional organization, staff, etc.
  • Utilize electrical design calculations such as electrical loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, and voltage drop.

Requirements

  • BS Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in an AEC industry (Architecture, Engineering, Construction).
  • Preferred Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT certification with goals of attaining PE licensure (NJ & NY Preferred).
  • Proficient with computer-aided design and drafting software such as AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, electrical equipment standards, and building codes is required.
  • Must have external client-facing experience related to building project construction.
  • Previous experience mentoring a team of junior engineers.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents including project plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Strong ability to manage projects and teams, including the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple assignments without direct supervision.
  • Must have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel for load calculations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to perform local job site travel as needed (Up to 20% within the Tri-State Area).
  • REVIT experience is a plus.
  • Power analysis design software experience is a plus.
