Thermal Engineer

Description

  • Permanent position for a Thermal Engineer to design and specify thermal equipment for power plant condensers.
  • Ensure that thermal, process, and noise design meet specifications.
  • Generate and review thermal performance curves, step control curves, wind correction curves, etc.
  • Create process flow diagrams (PFDs), and logic diagrams.
  • Pipe and duct sizing through hydraulic calculations.
  • Produce equipment data sheets and technical specifications for bid packages.
  • Perform technical bid evaluation to decide on final vendor selection.
  • Validate supplier design tools.
  • Review, approve, and control vendor-supplied engineering documents.
  • Answer equipment and engineering related inquiries.
  • Produce thermal performance test procedures and reports.
  • Provide technical support to the commissioning team.
  • Perform equipment inspections at vendor fabrication facilities.

Requirements

  • BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with thermal analysis.
  • Knowledge of process design, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and control systems.
  • Experience with finite element flow modeling preferred.
  • Ability to design and specify equipment such as heat exchangers, fans, pumps, etc.
  • Ability to develop and improve design software for thermal selection and noise calculation.
  • Salary based on experience, plus bonus and stock options.
